The Challenge: Create a brand name that stands out from the crowd


PIODS is a company that sales various kinds of computer peripherals which will extend the capabilities of a personal computer.

When approached about this project, this client had a name that described what they did, but did not set them apart from the other 14 million competing sites.

To service their need, we saw the opportunity to create an unique namespace much like "IBM" . However the name still needed to convey the essense of what they did-selling both input/output computer peripherals. So we created an acronym, P.I.O.D.S. which stood for (P)eripheral (I)nput (O)utput (D)evices. Of course the "S" stands for plural, since they would sell more than one type of computer peripheral. In addition, the name sounded "technologic", without having any other exclusive meanings associated with it. In other words, it was a new marketplace upon which we could build a brand name without having to deal with pre-existing misconceptions.

We also created a unique logo and tagline which expressed the nature and or functionality of computer peripherals; 'extended computer capabilites.' Now this company has a 'clear brand focus' with the potential to grow.
