As if Google could not top garnering over 80% percent of natural search traffic, they announce plans to make their own version of the internet.

At present, it's simply called Google Public DNS, which will act as a sort of switchboard of the Internet, converting easy-to-remember domain names — e.g., www.google.com — into the unique Internet Protocol (IP) numbers — e.g., 74.125.45.100 — that computers use to communicate with one another.

The objective here is to help users to web-surfing experiences faster, safer and more reliable. (read full article)
